Wilton Re
Capital and Ratings

Wilton Re employs a unique capital structure for a life reinsurer. Our capital raised, now totaling $928 million, takes the form of irrevocable calls with a small group of sophisticated investors. This provides us with an environment which eliminates the pressure to quickly employ underutilized capital. Our primary investors include Lehman Brothers, Trident III, and Friedman, Fleischer & Lowe.

Wilton Re is able to draw down the capital over time as needed. This prevents undue pressure to quickly invest large sums of capital and potentially lose sight of our risk management guidelines in order to achieve short term financial goals.

With this approach we are able to carefully analyze every opportunity thoroughly and only bid on those opportunities that provide a win/win solution for our customers and for our investors.
