Wilton Re
Capital and Ratings

Wilton Re employs a unique capital structure for a life reinsurer. Our capital raised, now totaling $928 million, takes the form of irrevocable calls with a small group of sophisticated investors. This provides us with an environment which eliminates the pressure to quickly employ underutilized capital and it allows us to stay focused on our risk management guidelines.

We only draw down against those capital commitments as necessary to fund our successful efforts in both the Traditional Reinsurance and Run Off Solutions (acquisitions) market.

With this approach we are able to carefully analyze every opportunity thoroughly and only bid on those opportunities that provide a win/win solution for our customers and for our investors. Our primary investors include Trident III, and Friedman, Fleischer & Lowe, and Vestar.
